Raffle Ticket For Romeo
I am someone who finds it very hard to ask for help, and money above all things. I always strive to work hard and support myself.
Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my sweet boy, Romeo, the cat with the biggest heart.
I was so lucky to have him in my life for 16 years.
I went through two decades of heavy depression and terrifying daily panic attacks. He was essential to my survival.
I often would find myself thinking “That’s it, I leave”…and I would keep fighting another day because I couldn’t leave him.
I lost count of the many times I was laying down, paralysed by a ferocious panic attack, and he would come lay on my chest, purring so loud, grounding me.
I did my best to provide him the best life, and towards the end, the best and most compassionate care. It has been a little heavy, the past year, in that regard, but I managed.
I recently hurt myself and wasn’t able to work. Then, more vet bills for him, and now the final one, with end of life and all the costs that come with it.
I find myself in the position of needing grace, the ability not to “perform and be at my best” for a little while, while I take the time to mourn. The bills are there, though.
So I am reaching out to my community.
