This size is what I would consider a medium, works for a good range of yarns. Suitable for a beginner.
The wood is ebonised Italian Oak.
The ebonisation is a process where a solution of vinegar and steel is applied to the wood. Wood with high tannins react to it, darkening from brown to deep black. In this case, the wood turned dark brown, with the gorgeous veins being almost black.
